Guy Fawkes

This week we are learning about Guy Fawkes. Guy Fawkes is a celebration of bonfires, fireworks and lights. It is celebrated after Guy/Guido Fawkes' failed attempt to blow up parliament known as 'The Failed Gunpowder Plot of 1606'. Fawkes was a member of 13 English Catholics led by Robert Catesby who planned to kill King James and replace him with his own daughter Princess Elizabeth. In 1606 the group made their way into a cellar beneath the parliament and loaded it with barrels of gunpowder ready to blow. An anonymous note was sent to the king as a warning of their plans and soon Fawkes was captured on November the 5th, the day we celebrate Guy Fawkes night. We celebrate his capture even after 400 years.

RWC writing

In class we had to write about the Rugby World Cup and whether mixed gender teams should be allowed to play together. Here's my writing:

Should mixed teams be allowed to play in the
Rugby World Cup?

With over hundreds of thousands of viewers world wide it’s no secret that the Rugby World Cup is getting a lot of attention lately, but should mixed teams be able to play together? I don’t think so and here’s why:

Firstly, less people may watch the Rugby World Cup. After such a massive change it’s impossible to tell what reaction people may give. Some may hate it, others may love it. It’s too much of a risk to take as it could turn the RWC upside down entirely.

Secondly, Other countries may object to have mixed teams due to culture, religion or just can’t get skilled enough players. With 20 nations competing in the Rugby World Cup it would be highly difficult for countries to follow along and it may spell the end for some teams playing in the RWC.

And finally with a physical difference between female and male players it makes the teams slightly unfair as generally men are built stronger than women therefore it would be unfair for both to play together.

In conclusion I believe that mixed teams should not play in the Rugby World Cup 2019.

The Rosary

This term we have been learning about the Rosary. The Rosary is a Catholic prayer devotion which brings us closer to Mary and Jesus. It is mapped out on a long necklace with a cross at the end of it. Each bead or knot counts a prayer.

To pray the rosary you start with the Our Father, 3 Hail Mary's and Glory Be. Then you move on to the first mystery, 10 Hail Mary's and Glory Be. The second mystery 10 Hail Mary's and Glory be. Repeat until up to the 5th mystery. After the 5th mystery you finish with Hail Holy Queen, The Rosary Prayer and a big sign of the cross.
