On Tuesday we made beautiful fence hearts with wool. Tui, Kakapo and Te kahu were all groups into teams to make a load of pretty wool and string hearts along the metal fence!

Shark Writing
Shark Writing
HI! I’m Ozzi and i’m a Blacktip Reef Shark! I have 3 friends, Marshall the Megalodon, Sean the sand shark, and Isy the great white. Today we decided to go up to the shallow areas for lunch. Caught a nice old woman on the harbour. Delicious. We used to have a pet angler fish called John. He hasn’t moved for the past few weeks. Ever since Marshall accidentally ate his tail he hasn’t been eating much, or anything. Come to think of it he’s also been sleeping upside down a lot. interesting , maybe he’s just hibernating. We’re not sure if angler fish hibernate though. The waves were rough today and I was nearly caught by some dumb humans who didn’t know how to use a fishing net. Barry the whale shark almost crashed into our reef. He’s terrible at navigating and he almost took out Sean. A massive group of tuna swam past us and were really tasty until some other sharks decided to chase them so we sat on the reef and watched two jellyfish battle it out for a starfish. Woke up the next day to some annoying ‘surf life saving’ boat trying to catch a human. They almost made me want to eat them. But I was too tired and besides, humans taste kind of bad and surf life saving boats are hard to bite. I even considered waking up Marshall because he can take it down easily, but he’d probably eat me if I woke him up. Today we decided to set john free. He didn’t look too good when we took him out of his cage but when we set him free he rushed (or floated either one) all the way to the top. It was sad watching john go but we know that he’s in a better place now. (possibly in the stomach of a whale though). Sean was arguing to Isy this morning about how our cave is WAY too close to the sea turtles path when they migrate and he wanted to move. So we kicked him out to a smaller cave next door and alas we were woken in the middle of the night by an angry Ms. Octopus who came in carrying Sean. All in all, we enjoy being sharks even if pets are set free, octopus don’t like intruders, and humans REALLY like shark fin soup...

Google Docs Ninja Challenge
Today we tested our computer skills with the 'Google Docs Ninja Challenge'. The Google Docs Ninja challenge was all about using our computer knowledge to complete a course that involved critical computer thinking! I made it all the way up to black belt (which took excruciating pain because I was new to using google docs). But I made it! here, I can even prove it to you!

NAVIGATING IN THE WILD
Recently, Kakapo class were learning to navigate without phones or technology inspired by the novel ‘cuz’.
We learnt to use a compass and how to determine our location as if we were lost. Now it’s time to teach you about how to use a compass (pay attention this might be important!)
And now you know how to use a compass. Being able to use a compass is a good talent to have if you enjoy hiking and being in the outdoors.

Rangiputa Beach
RANGIPUTA BEACH
Rangiputa is a lovely and beautiful place,
The beach is white and sandy with clear and blue water
perfect for a swim, I think! I also like to fish here because
the sea is abundant with fish and you’ll get loads

of great catches. Rangiputa Beach is a great place to go
rockhopping, I love to look at the amazing rockpools and
find loads of starfish and crabs with my brother!
By the beach there is a little campervan car park where you
can camp by the beach and eat what you caught that day.
This place is so special to me because of the forest tracks
and the beautiful view that makes it feel completely magical.

COLOUR RUN KAITAIA
On Friday the 26th of October, Abundant Life School,
Pompallier Catholic School and other schools as well as members of the community joined together for the first ever Kaitaia colour run. We gathered in the A&P showgrounds and ran, walked, and jogged through the streets. We ran 5km and every km we were splattered and bombarded with colourful powder! People wore white so the colour was visible on their bodies. After the big colour run the entertainers hired for the colour run started handing out prizes like stress balls(i won one), chargers, and coupons for various places in kaitaia. There was also a sausage sizzle that costed two dollars but Scott and I had no money! It really was a great fundraiser and we hope they start it up again next year!
